A Gen Z journey of pets, purpose, learning, and building in public
PawJoy: More Than an Online Pet Store
PawJoy started with a simple idea: pet shopping should feel easier, more thoughtful, and a little more fun. Built in Pakistan by a young FC College student, PawJoy is growing into a modern pet brand focused on quality pet essentials, especially for cats and the people who treat them like family. From cat toys, collars and feeding bowls to grooming essentials and everyday accessories, the goal is simple: bring useful products together in one place without making pet parenting feel complicated.
Starting Small, Thinking Big
PawJoy did not begin with a huge warehouse, a large team, or a polished corporate setup. It started small, with limited resources, a lot of questions, and a willingness to learn. The founder had to figure out sourcing, pricing, branding, packaging, social media, customer communication, website setup, shipping, and marketing along the way. Instead of waiting until everything was perfect, he started with what was available and improved the brand one step at a time.
The Reality Behind the Brand
Building a business while studying is not as aesthetic as it can look on Instagram. College takes up most of the day, while business work often moves into the evening and late-night hours. There have been stretches of working after classes, studying alongside business tasks, and staying awake late to finish designs, product research, website work, content, and planning. Along the way came the normal challenges of starting young: financial pressure, uncertainty, burnout, overthinking, delayed work, logistics problems, and the constant question of whether the next idea would actually work.
There was no ready-made playbook. Much of the learning happened through trial and error. A product decision could teach a lesson about margins. A shipping problem could expose a gap in the website. A post that did not perform could lead to a better content strategy. A customer question could become an FAQ. That process is still happening today, and it is part of what makes PawJoy’s story real.
Why PawJoy Focuses on the Pet Parent Experience
Pet parents do not just buy products; they are buying convenience, trust, and something they believe will make their pet’s everyday life better. That is why PawJoy focuses on practical categories such as cat accessories, toys, feeding products, grooming tools, treats, and other pet supplies. The brand aims to keep the experience straightforward: discover something useful, understand what it does, order easily, and receive it with care.
The Pakistani online pet store supplies market is already competitive, with established stores offering categories such as cat food, cat litter, toys, grooming products, bowls, collars, and accessories. Current market data also indicates that cat supplies are a major part of Pakistan’s pet products e-commerce market, which makes the category both promising and competitive.
Built for a New Generation of Pet Parents
PawJoy’s personality is intentionally different from a traditional pet shop. It is clean, playful, social-first, and Gen Z friendly without trying too hard. The brand speaks to pet parents in a way that feels natural: less corporate, more human. Cute products can still be useful, and premium does not have to mean boring. That balance is at the center of PawJoy’s identity.
Social media is a major part of that identity. Instead of treating Instagram as just a catalogue, PawJoy uses it to show products, share ideas, build trust, and create a community around pets. The long-term goal is not simply to collect followers; it is to turn attention into genuine relationships with pet parents.
From Products to a Brand People Can Trust
One of the biggest lessons from building PawJoy has been that a business is not built by products alone. It is built through the details around them: how a product is presented, how quickly a customer gets a response, how an issue is handled, how an order is packed, and whether the brand keeps its word. That is why PawJoy puts effort into packaging, thank-you notes, product presentation, customer communication, website content, and clear policies.
The First Milestones Matter
Every small business has moments that feel bigger than they look from the outside. For PawJoy, crossing PKR 100,000 in sales became one of those milestones. It was not the end goal, but it was proof that a small idea could turn into real customer demand. It also brought new lessons: bigger orders create bigger logistics challenges, inventory needs better planning, and growth requires systems rather than simply working harder.
Learning From the Problems, Too
Some of PawJoy’s most useful lessons have come from problems. A heavy cat litter order, for example, can reveal that standard courier limits do not always work for bulk orders. Instead of seeing that as just a frustrating order issue, it becomes a reason to improve shipping rules, weight limits, checkout messaging, and logistics partnerships. That is how PawJoy is being built: not by pretending everything goes perfectly, but by learning quickly when it does not.
Where PawJoy Is Going
PawJoy is still a young brand, and that is part of the excitement. The plan is to keep expanding the product range carefully, improve the online shopping experience, build stronger logistics, create better content, listen to customers, and eventually grow beyond a small social-commerce operation into a trusted pet brand.
The ambition is not to become the biggest pet store overnight. It is to become a brand people remember when they think about pet essentials in Pakistan and, eventually, beyond it. That means growing responsibly, keeping the customer experience personal, and staying close to the reason PawJoy started in the first place: making pet care a little easier and a lot more joyful.
The PawJoy Mindset
PawJoy is a work in progress, and that is exactly how it is meant to be. It is being built between college, business hours, late-night work sessions, learning curves, small wins, mistakes, and plenty of coffee-level determination. There is still a long way to go, but the direction is clear.
For PawJoy, the journey is simple: start small, stay honest, keep learning, listen to pet parents, and improve every day. One product, one customer, one idea, and one paw at a time.
